Hi, I'm Polina, the artist behind World of Pey.
My watercolor creatures begin with a simple question:
What if every living thing had feelings we couldn't quite see?
Each illustration starts as a playful sketch inspired by nature, but as I paint, the creature slowly evolves into its own personality. Some become curious, others timid, joyful, stubborn, dreamy, or quietly thoughtful. I never know exactly who they will become until they appear on the paper.
As a landscape architect, I spent years studying the forms, textures, and rhythms of the natural world. Today, those same observations inspire a different kind of work—one where flowers, leaves, and familiar animals transform into gentle companions with emotions of their own.
My hope is that everyone who meets these creatures finds one that feels unexpectedly familiar. Maybe it reminds you of someone you love, a feeling you've carried, or even a small part of yourself.
Every creature has a story. Look closer.
I work primarily in watercolor, a medium that mirrors the way my creatures come to life. The flowing paint often leads the process, allowing each character to emerge naturally rather than being completely planned.
